My child is not like yours. My child does not sleep in the car. He does not like to sit quietly and play with his toys. He does not like to join us at the dinner table and finger-feed himself his finger-foods. He likes to explore. He likes to taste. He likes to run and pet the dogs and slide down the slide and feel the tree and see the birds and do ( Read more... )

every child is different--and we just want to do whatever is easiest for you! But I can understand both hosting and traveling are difficult.

YES. My friends have been great in understanding, I'm super lucky. I have acquaintances who are less understanding, though, and that drives me bonkers!

Our veggie group is *perfect* for me because I get to socialize, I get to have K with me, he gets exposure to lots of loving other people, if I "host" I don't have to: cook for everyone, put out plates, etc, I just have to make one thing to contribute and it just works great.

Hosting dinner parties solo, though, that's another story!

dealing with poop... I can sympathize, with the ever-ill kitties that seem to have, years later, mostly stabilized... but it took so long, and there's still days where someone throws up all over the frick'n place, right when I need to head to work... ugh!

do you have a bike carriage thing that he rides in behind you? trailer I guess it might be called...

Dude, totally! Man, we must love our cute little ones to be so willing to deal with these gross side-products... oy.

We do NOT have such a carriage thing but I REALLY want one. I think Ali would *love* to bike forth with K behind him, and I'd be happy to bike beside. I'm totally checking Craigslist right now.

I'm just wonderin... sheilagh October 13 2009, 17:11:13 UTC
if YOU had the carriage, too, you could probably expand your travel range w/ baby in tow :)

Also, your boy wounds like Dash out of The Incredibles :)

Thank you, B. I love my little man but I'm really confused about when and how to guide and provide strong boundaries. ACk. I do not wanna raise a holy terror!

I miss you, too. You comin' here for Turkey? You're not, are you? You're going to TN?

Old electronics would be much appreciated....

How is the new little one treating you?? How is motherhood-of-two? I saw a baby a few nights ago who was SO chill, just sat and played with a toy and didn't cry and was low-key as all get out and I thought hey, if my baby 2 is like that I'll be FINE! On the other hand, if my baby 2 is as active as K, I'm so screwed.. Where does Theo fall on the scale??

And how is my little friend Finn?
... and how are YOU?

but a 2nd of Keaton's energy levels would mean Keaton has someone younger and MORE energetic to keep HIM on his toes!

ooh true true.. and actually the most restful times I have are when I'm next door with Mason, 'cause he and K play with each other (often) and leave us mommies to our wine.

Finn hasn't done the diaper thing, but I think that's mainly because I always leave his shorts on him, no matter what. I'm so paranoid about poop on the floor! LOL His latest thing to do when I leave the room for two minutes is to climb onto and stand up on the kitchen table. First, it was so he could rip up the napkins and sprinkle salt everywhere, but now, even though we've moved the napkin holder, salt and pepper shakers, and fruit basket, he's still determined to climb up there. Scares me to *death*.

As a friend of mine with a particularly active 17 month old boy says, "If you use your powers for evil, God help us." I'm sure Keaton will use his powers for good, and do many wondrous things with all that energy!
