Ah! I totally missed that part of the post. ^^; I just missed you, seeing all those things that are you. *hugs*
Also I'm studying for a chapter test, a kanji test, just finished writing an essay, and am trying to write fic... all at once. So I wasn't going to write anything long, but here I go, babbling on! *g*
But those are really wonderfully sweet associations! I'd love to write something about them, if I can find the time. ♥
I'll just repeat what you said yesterday: not looking for associations, just commenting a bit!;)
Do people tend to bother you a lot by asking you to translate things?
Oh yeah, that's Zoro all right. Although I read another comment once that said, "In any other comic, Zoro would be a bad guy" - referring how he can look quite demonic and bloodthirsty at times. ^_^
There was a time before I got deeper into One Piece whenZoro was my least favourite Strawhat - didn't mean I hated him, but I had more trouble with him than with the others. He seemed too much in the mold of übercool, über-badass characters that tend to bore the heck out of me. Also, when I first started checking out OP discussions on the net I got turned off by all these Zoro fanboys who seemed to worship him for his macho toughness alone. But! I read a lot of good fics, some essayish posts (notably two by hsiuism on LJ) and other commentary which caused me to re-evaluate him a lot, noticing things in canon that I hadn't picked up on before and starting to love the guy. I had to

Since you already did the meme and tagged me for it, I'm not going to tag you back unless you really want me to! ^^

It has been known to happen. Why, is there something you need translated? :)
Mmm, yes, a bad guy - or else the kind of badass anti-hero type that has angst, kicks ass, and otherwise mostly stands around stoically. We're lucky he's in One Piece and not anywhere else! XD With his tendency to sleep through anything, a directional sense barely superior to Ryouga's, and the way he grumbles rather than spazzes, and then the idiot stubbornness I talked about above... He's hardly a paragon of coolness. Which would, indeed, be boring!
I agree about some of the early Hidden Years that Wendy drew! They were pretty and had a lot of heart. And Dreamtime was rather nice too. But I was very disappointed in "The Searcher and the Sword" - like you say, no spark. It felt like very generic fantasy. :(
That's probably a Good Thing, given the way I can't seem to shut up once I get going on these things...
Erm. Nah, it was a whole dojinshi (indicated as Sanji/Usopp, but G-rated (in terms of art at least)). Would take too much trouble. (I usually don't check out dojinshi - for exactly the reason that I want to know what people are saying - but I happened to come across a cool-looking link.)
We're lucky he's in One Piece and not anywhere else!
True! Yeah, Zoro has always had his funny sides, and that's why even back then I never actually disliked him. But I read him as close enough to the archetype that I didn't like him as much as the others.
In some ways Zoro's lack of direction could even be said to be worse than Ryoga's, in that Ryoga's been known to be aware he has a problem, now and then. Zoro, not so much. ;)
Maybe Ryoga wouldn't get lost so much if he were travelling in a small ship on the ocean as part of a close-knit crew that looks out for him. Though he'd hate being surrounded by so much cold water...Maybe she will

Link me and I'll have a look at it? (I can't promise any pretty scanlations, but possibly a text-translation?)
Heh, you've got a point! Ryouga is somewhat aware that he's got a problem... On the other hand, he's been known to wander off to Okinawa. And get lost inside small buildings. At least Zoro has never ended up on a completely different island! XD He did get lost aboard the Sunny, but that was in a non-canon movie, so it doesn't count.

There is that. It's a favorable situation for Zoro, if nothing else. (Before he met Luffy? He hunted pirates for a living because he was lost. XD) And Ryouga's problem with sea water is arguably less severe than the Fruit Eaters'. I'm pretty sure P-chan can swim! :)

I take it you want themes? It's almost harder to think up something for someone you know really well, but how about this?
1. Creativity
2. Fandom
3. Shadowrun
4. Kyoto
5. Nakamaship
