the 13th episode was shot for the DVD only, afaik.

from the article I read, it looked like Joss did it as a 'look at what I can do with half the budget' thing. There's some question about whether it'll be renewed for next season.

The Hulu discussion board users said that it has been renewed for next season. I haven't checked to see if that's accurate or not, though.
