Plateletting

So my platelet donation thing yesterday was fun.

Some people are squicked out by this stuff, so I'll put it behind ( a cut )

wonky! (mostly because I've never heard of platelet donation before).
Glad that everything worked out in the end. I've only ever done plasma donation in Marquette.

Dude, yesterday, 75% of my blood left my body! How cool is that?

Also, I can't donate plasma-- I'm deferred. Good money in it, though, if you can manage it.

Well, the lady said it takes between 2500 and 3000 mL of blood for them to collect enough platelets.

The average person has between 65 and 70 mL of blood per kg of body mass.

I weigh 140 lbs. That means I've got about 4L of blood. They borrowed ~3000 of my ~4000mL...

So yeah, 75%.

Freaky, eh?
