A post, now with multimedia

I was listening to Michael "Midi" McCarthy's CDs while cleaning today.  I haven't listened to them in YEARS, but the midi helicopter and crickets and the fact that he sings "Don't Cry Out Loud" never, ever get old.  Anyway, I began to wonder what he was up to these days, and I discovered this:

Unfortunately the CD is nearly $30, which seems a little ( Read more... )

I'm just glad that he didn't try to do a Eugen(e) accent. Yikes. The backlighting in the video is amazing.

Thanks! The Oakland Zoo has much better sightlines than I remembered. Although somehow we couldn't find Australia?! I know it's there, but maybe it's blocked off? I mean, not like I haven't been to Australia, but still.

Thanks, I think. I was a little punchy after not punching any children at the zoo. ;)

I thought about going to a zoo or something outdoors today, but it was too hot and children even in nice weather are still children. ;) So instead, I went to the Museum of the City of NY today and saw a vintage Tea Party/Birther sign. That's not really what it was, but...

Oh, my. But was he born in Kenya?!

The zoo had a new "coyote quiet" campaign, with signs with a hand shaped like a coyote head to alert kids to be quiet. Of course what it did was make it so that kids were constantly yelling, "Where's the coyote?! I don't see it!"

The lure of the vampires is apparently irresistible.

Another one!?

My list of Vampire musicals, am I missing any:
  • Tanz der Vampire (German)
  • Dance of the Vampires (totally trashed English version of the above; which due to the rewrites, I'm counting seperately)
  • Dracula, l'amour plus fort que la mort (French)
  • Dracula (Frank Wildhorn's version, I'm told the German-language version is better)
  • Lestat (Elton John's show)

Apparently there is a rock musical called Nosferatu the Vampire, which premiered in the US in the 90s? And some cult thing called Carmilla? I'm sure there's more like that lurking around, but you definitely got the, er, "highlights."

You would think that even if composers and writers weren't scared, investors would be.
