Iroh has found some open space not to far from the farmhouse. The area is mostly packed dirt, so there's little chance of starting a fire by accident. He moves slowly through a few simple movements, stretching his body and remembering what each form is supposed to feel like ( Read more... )

Mel and the girls come down after a morning in the fields, with a twin baby chair and a small picnic. After a quick fight over who gets Dino, they settle down on the grass to watch.

If he notices their arrival, Iroh gives no sign. He simply continues what he is doing.

He moves well for an old man. Most of the kicks and punches are made from the ground, but every so often there's a leap thrown in, and somehow he manages to not look awkward doing them.

The form he is in the middle of concludes with a circular burst of flame and he settles into a quiet stance for a moment before bowing to an invisible opponent.

It's the fire that makes Hana squeal in delight, and she tumbles out of the chair, scrambling towards the place the nearest flame had reached.

Mel, grinning, sits back and watches Loo follow.

Iroh turns to the scrambling babies and grins. "Why hello there, little ones." He holds out an open palm in which a bit of flame dances.

When Zuko rounds the side of the farmhouse - it never hurts to know your territory - he freezes mid-step at the sight, first of the small, bright flares, and then-

"Uncle-"

He... will be moving forward once he remembers.

[OOC: So, hi! Slowtime, please? Am unpacking, but I had to.]

Iroh does not freeze. It would be bad form, after all. He simply continues with the simple beginner-level kata he is in the middle of.

[ooc: Yay slowtime!]

Zuko swallows, then determinedly steps closer. Sneaking around near a Firebender mid-kata is just stupid, especially one as powerful as Iroh.

And one who has as much cause to hate him as Iroh does.

The kata is completed soon enough. Iroh finishes with a spinning kick which sprays fire in all directions. Not far, he's being careful.

Then his stance settles and how bows to an invisible opponent.

It just happens to be in the direction Zuko is standing. "Good afternoon, Prince Zuko," he says mildly.
