Steph appears from the direction of the fields, picking her way through the Kansas January weather with a bright smile, and plops down unannounced next to Sokka, hip and thigh and shoulder to his side.
What? She likes her security blanket.
"That one's me, isn't it?" she asks Loo happily. "I love it."
It's cold in Kansas, this time of year. Everyone is bundled up, but no one so obviously as Hana and Loo - who, ironically, are the ones that need it least. But the girls look like little beachballs holding crayons - beachballs that squeal and giggle at the sight of Steph.
Sokka grins, wearing the lighter parka he'd brought back from his trip up north, and slides an arm around Steph's hips. "That one's you," he agrees, letting Loo point to the 'you' in question.
Steph cuddles into Sokka's furry side, all smiles now that she's done working in the bar in town and she can curl up with her favourite kids. And, obviously, Sokka.
"Where's Loo and Hana?" she asks, regarding the Art critically. "And where's Sokka?"
Loo points out these very important figures, also including Dean, who frequently makes it into her family portraits. Sokka shifts a little awkwardly when that happens. But at least she's stopped putting Dean in the center, with Sokka in the sidelines.
Now they're both in the center.
Hana, who has given up on drawing and taken to building a snow fort, tries to hide a yawn. But no one can hide from Super Uncle, who grins and hands Loo to Steph so he can grab at Tiny.
