There is what should be a familiar flash of light and echoing bang that resonates for a moment before dropping out completely. The product of this being a young woman who is, more or less, about as frightened and confused as anyone in her position possibly could be

There's a bright light up in the sky. It's not quite a cloud; it's not quite an airplane.

It's flying in a slow circle around Anew, spiralling down towards the ground.

"Ah..?" She looks up, eyes wide with something akin to curiosity, tinged with a bit of fear from the general situation.

As the shape descends, it resolves into the glowing white silhouette of a person with massive, shapeless wings.

The wings tighten up into solid triangles. Val banks, turns, and glides in for a neat landing a short distance away. When her feet touch the ground, her wings dissolve into fog and fade away without a trace. A moment later, so does the armour covering her body, and what's left is a perfectly normal young woman in jeans and a T-shirt with red hair and absolutely no glowing parts anywhere.

"Hey," she says cheerfully. "Lemme guess, you were somewhere else a minute ago?"

That's a bit of an understatement...

At least the other woman's cheerfulness is something of a comfort. Anew parts her lips to speak, though nothing comes out at first. She shakily rises to her feet and tries again, voice escaping softly, "I... What is this place?"
