silliness

Second Life is graced by the benignly unblinking gaze of the Residents. Obviously, this is an alternate version who never lost the fourth eyeball.

It was a bit odd to pop on near the tail end of that. But I'm becoming increasingly used to popping into the midst of peculiar happenings on SL lately. :D

I think the only reason I'd go back on Second Life would be to hang around you to see weird hijinks. I've already /got/ a chat program and a playspace. And I don't know the tools enough to create anything cool on SL of my own.

Mostly it's just idling about and maybe working on a weird avatar, or a fragment of buggy code. I much prefer text as chat and playspace - SL is good for its own kind of anarchic play, but it's impossible to keep much record of it.

I love http://www.bluewyrm.com/sl/slresidents/for_075.html - your new avatar is so sharp.

I think what excites me the most about it is the way that you have managed to bend the crafting tools to your will... so that the things you make in 3d *accurately resemble* the things you make in 2d. I mean, you're a competent artist - this should not surprise me - but to see the drawing style "come to life" as it were is just terribly gleeful for me.

Irfanview is awesome - it took me under five minutes to thumbnail and html-ize everything. And it's free! So let's see your pictures!!!! :)

Thanks again for all the silliness and fun!

The odd thing is that what you praise in my avatars and other fragments of building is what I see as a lack: I feel that it doesn't resemble my work enough, I feel constrained by SL's assumptions and limits. The wings in the new av, for instance, are very consciously designed with SL in mind. I'm pleased with the way they came out, but the overall style is... Second Life, you know? I'm using a lot of tricks I worked out from looking at well-made buildings and avatars; I'm letting the tool influence my work to a larger degree than I'm really comfortable with.

I'm throwing the pictures up on my website and letting it do all the resize work right now. I might cull them a little before posting a URL...

Ye gods, that was silly. n.n

I can see how you would feel constrained. But you do very well with the tools and limitations at hand.

Those pics were great! Good times... :) Thanks for the happy and silly memories.

I wore my Afro the other day. I still need to make a pick. :)
