Myojo February 2010 KisuMai, A.B.C.-Z, Kinki, T&T etc Scans
Quite a lot of people are flailing about the whole drama thing, but if you expected me to be flailing, I'm surprisingly not. Not excited either. Rather calm about the whole thing. It's not like I'm not happy for them. Heck, I've been waiting for another drama with Taisuke in it since Byakkotai from 2007. It's been such a long time. My first reaction when I read about the news though was "Oh, no wonder there's so much time between Osaka and Tokyo shows. It's probably among other reasons like getting concert hall." Then it was like, "Yet another reason why KisuMai won't be in Kakumei since those two would be too busy." Then it was "This is exactly like KAT-TUN and does that mean we can expect a 2012 debut?" Since I still don't think KisuMai will be doing a volleyball-related debut and they won't debut two groups in one year. Johnny can feel free to surprise all of us. See what I mean by calm?
Coincidentally, I actually read up the drama and was checking its website yesterday and they announced the cast today. Good or bad timing, not sure. Other than HiroSuke, another actor that will probably play a student is Ichikawa Tomohiro who's the lead in Clone Baby and a winner from Junon contest I believe (the flower guy from Otomen). In the cast, there's also Tanaka Kei (hey, rumoured couple working together again!), Usuda Asami (the girlfriend of Horikawa from Tokyo DOGS if you remember her, or Hotaru no Hikari 2 if you watched, the kouhai of Hotaru), Tsuchiya Yuuichi (yes, Tuti, 1st generation TeniMyu Oishi, part of *pnish), and Komatsu Ayaka (Sailor V, I'll probably forever think of her as that).
The staff working on the drama happened to have worked on Gokusen as well (well, at least definitely the producer is the same). From Infoseek of Rakuten's website, it seemed like the producer had said that he did the casting auditions with the goal of producing the next stars in mind because Gokusen had been successful and produced stars like MatsuJun, Kame, Jin, Oguri Shun, Koike Teppei, Narimiya Hiroki etc. While I'm not sure how successful the drama will be compared to Gokusen (the plotline may be similar, but the appeals are not exactly the same - can't exactly compare coming from a yakuza background and knowing how to fight to being a hostess in a kyabakura in the past), I think it's awesome that the producer had that goal in mind and HiroSuke were picked as a result of that.
Also, the role that Taisuke plays is the leader of the class Kujou Kazuma (can also be read as Kazumasa, but I'm leaning towards Kazuma for now) who's hot-blooded, while Hiro plays Hata Ryousuke (there's quite a few ways to read the role's last/family name, but Hata sound most plausible to me...) who is Kujou's friend and a moodmaker. Love how Hiro likes to use Taisuke's favourite phrase lately. Also, in one of the newspaper articles, Taisuke said he wants to meet Karina soon while Hiro is feeling excited (waku waku). Anyways, I know for sure Daily Sports have an actual article with photo of HiroSuke in uniform plus one another newspaper but haven't been able to confirm which yet.
As for whether or not I'll feel excited, better ask me when January comes.
