I hated Alice in Wonderland, too. The creepy Hatter/Alice overtones squicked me out, and the stupid "yay we won disney dance time yay" scene at the end made me ill.
I'd have to say in re: to The Thing remake that there really is no hope for it. Carpenter's version just plain sucked IMHO, but then, I liked The Thing From Another World. I know is Carpenter's version is more true to Who Goes There than the 1951 version, and this sort of flies in the face of my "gah! remakes suck!" thing, but I suspect this has to do with my hatred for what the movie industry has done to the horror genre more than anything else. Anyway, that little tangent aside, I think that given the writing talent that Moore is on board, I'd be shocked if Cylon babies weren't somehow used to expose the alien/save the day.
