I don't usually post fanfic.
But I spent yesterday home sick with a head cold, thinking about The Day of the Doctor.
You can't sleep properly with a head cold. The snot keeps you awake. And, if you're me, you distract yourself thinking about what you wanted to see with John Hurt's War Doctor.

When Ten said he was there at the Fall of Arcadia, I imagined it as a planet. And since this is fanfic as critique of cannon, that's what I wrote it as.

And, yes, I agree. It should have been a Time Lord colony, the US to their UK.
A planet whose destruction that so terrified the Time Lords that they went all out.
Yes, it's a lazy 9/11 reference, but I think it works.

Nice portrayal of how the Time War might look, which could really be set on any planet. As with any story about rewriting history, though, it's hard to imagine how so much could be changed and still have Kala standing there. That's the problem with the idea of changing the past. Perhaps her presence in the tower from 'before' the changes began (at least from the Time Lords' perspective) could somehow have delayed the flow-on effects, just enough for us to see the fate of her home through her eyes. In my imagination, the view outside the windows would be morphing violently as the two sides battled for control of the past, seeming like it could all rip apart at any moment.
