(I meant to blog my thoughts about this episode. Then I wrote all this as a comment in a friend's journal, so I might as well post this.)

I enjoyed it, but I had very mixed feelings.

I agree with most of what you said, and the only real differences are slightly complementary. In the spirit of things, here's a comment I posted elsewhere

Making The Hurt Doctor a warrior, and seeing the things he must have done during the war, was lacking.
Nope, he was the kindly old granddad, with a chatty superweapon that would burn a galaxy (and those billions of kids of Gallifrey - but let us ignore the other races in that galaxy), called The Moment for no obvious reason that is explained (but we can theorise it would time-lock the war within the Medusa Cascade because why?).

I agree with pretty much everything here (and there).
I think the reason I didn't enjoy it going in is that I saw all the problems front up.
The emotional beats and fluffery didn't really pay off for me until I could ignore those issues and just enjoy the story for what it was.

I'm interested by your criticism that they didn't lay out the argument in favour of wiping out the Time Lords within this episode. If, as you say, they've already explained that the Time Lords have become as bad as the Daleks in previous episodes (as the mini-ep with McGann certainly seemed to indicate to me), why would they need to explain it in this episode? I mean, I agree, they didn't give the argument in favour in the episode, but I assumed that they already had explained that in that large chunk of Ecclestone/Tennant that I haven't seen, so I didn't have a problem with it. You seem to be saying that my assumption was correct, so I'm not sure why they should have to go over that ground again in this episode
