Love the poetry in this. I have a sucker for the past playing out in the present, especially on people's bodies. This was woven together very artfully -- did you base it at all on Procne and Philomela, or am I just seeing what I want to?

I've read Metamorphoses more times than I can count - so I can't promise nothing crept in but I actually wasn't doing it intentionally. This time.

This was an interesting thing to write - I had no idea where it was going. I just really wanted there to be some hope that we can heal - I think that's why it wound up in the mirror universe.

It started out hard to write and then got more difficult - I have some mother stuff in the past and it got very complicated in the middle of writing. I kind of wanted it to be a little bit painful - because I am so conflicted when it comes to Mother's Day myself.

I do, admitedly, write my fair share of mirror!universe that's sadistic (my RP mirror!McCoy really is a sociopath) but it's always interesting to explore other options.
