Why do people insist on breaking down barriers between fantasy and reality? A 30-year age-split in a fantasy situation is never what it appears to be on the surface. It's always about something which underlies the apparent reality: maybe a need for emotional strength and validation, possibly a source of a very specific sort of nurturing that is missing in real life, it could even be something completely different like "I love the way things were 30 years ago more than I like the present." This is why Freud and Jung and Adler, for all their flaws, took such care to point out that the subconscious is dominated by symbols, and those symbols are expressed in a language of colours, shapes and ( ... )

I think there is a school of thought which honestly believes in the magical thinking technique whereby if one imagine something evil, it will literally become real - something like prayers, those literal ones.
This sort of simplistic reduction makes my teeth itch.
The aspect of the experience which is real is the feeling. So if a person is fantasizing about being raped because the rapist is overwhelmed by desire for them, in contravention of a real life act of violence, it is the satisfaction of being sexually desirable which is the reality they are taking away, not the experience of being violated.

Of course, the bottom line, if I can trust this tired old brain (and it really is tired at the moment - it's been a momentous day) is that I believe I agree with you pretty much completely here, which I usually do, when all is said and done. ^___~

Human beings are flawed and messed up enough as it is that I think we should let ourselves off the hook for where we aren't flawed, and where we have no real control, which is the irrational stuff. The only control we have over that is the ability to turn our attention toward or away.

Lauand gave me some interesting insight into the world of CLAMP love (see below). I thought that was interesting and helpful. It aided my understanding of some of the material a bit... (in the case of these stories, not of shota in general and these stories are VERY innocent about "love").
