Y so srs Avatar movie

Since we've covered the collective shame anyone has when mentioning the issues in the Avatar movie (the airbender one, Cameron's is a whole other encyclopedia of wrong) I think the best remedy to sit back and laugh. Because the more dramatically serious they present themselves, the worse it's going to be when they lose to the sparklepires.

zhao laughs at this fail

Imma say, the bending looks awesome though.

I found myself underwhelmed by the waterbending, but that could be because the animation made it a point to show how it was constantly being redirected and I don't see it as an extension of their movements.

And mostly I'm facepalming at how firebenders can't make fire ha ha what.

The movie looks gorgeous, even if the tone feels really wrong. I'm sad that they failed so badly in the casting department, otherwise it'd be great to see it in the movie theater if just for the visual effects.

It's the part where it looks like it belongs in the 300 trailers that gets me.

"TONIGHT! WE DINE! ON APPA!"

If this turns out to be a less faithful adaptation that Dragonball: Evolution, I will laugh forever.

It is certainly trying! Leaked spoilers already show a fundemental not getting it and then there's that whole elephant in the room of the awkward racial casting.

IF IT GETS A SEQUEL I WILL LAUGH MORE BECAUSE THE IDEA OF MOVIE AZULA HURTS ME TO HYSTERICS

The Water Tribes are meant to be that way.

To blend in with the snow.

Of course.

That's to show how the world is in darkness and needs to be saved.

From those upstarts who can make fire how dare they.

That's because all those helpless diverse people need white people to save them from the evil brown guys.
