Note: Sorry I'm late today! Couldn't find my card reader to upload the pics.

"Her Praise"

"House?" Cameron came out of the bedroom, rubbing her eyes. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing. Go back to bed."

"Can't. Got used to sleeping with you." There was a glint in her eye.

He appreciated that look. "Fine. I'll come to bed. Geez." He closed the book he had been reading and pushed it into the chair. "Come along then and I'll tuck you in." He grabbed her hand and pulled her back to the bedroom.

Later, after he was sated and sleeping, Cameron slipped out of bed and tiptoed into the living room. There had been something furtive about the way he read the book and it was obvious that he didn't want to discuss it. It couldn't have been porn, he had no trouble sharing that with her. Surely it wouldn't do any harm to take a peek.

She pulled it out and opened it.

"You're looking at the wrong one."

Cameron whirled. "House! You scared me!"

"You get what you deserve, Miss Nosy. Here." He took the book from her and flipped through the pages. "This is the one you want." He cleared his throat and read:

She is foremost of those that I would hear praised.
I have gone about the house, gone up and down
As a man does who has published a new book,
Or a young girl dressed out in her new gown,
And though I have turned the talk by hook or crook
Until her praise should be the uppermost theme,
A woman spoke of some new tale she had read,
A man confusedly in a half dream
As though some other name ran in his head.
She is foremost of those that I would hear praised.
I will talk no more of books or the long war
But walk by the dry thorn until I have found
Some beggar sheltering from the wind, and there
Manage the talk until her name come round.
If there be rags enough he will know her name
And be well pleased remembering it, for in the old days,
Though she had young men's praise and old men's blame,
Among the poor both old and young gave her praise.

Cameron touched his face. "I remember now. The teenage boy and his mother." She kissed him. "I'll let you get back to your reading. I didn't mean to interrupt." She turned away.

House touched her wrist. "Would you like to hear more?"

Their eyes met.

"I'd love it." She curled up on the couch and wrapped the throw over her shoulders while House settled into the sofa chair and began to read aloud.

Note: Yes, this was a special order. I asked someone who made books to make this one and I'm so glad I did. :D
