I bought a baton for my conducting class.

I feel like I should be in a Harry Potter movie!

And I just realized... the ceiling in my room is like the ceiling in the castle in Harry Potter because it looks like the sky outside OMGWTFBBQ!!!!1111!!11

Conducting is a funny thing eh... I took first-year conducting in my third year of uni (last year) to fill up my Music degree. (Conducting is not compulsory.)

The lecturer said:
"In Europe, they don't start teach conducting in the conservatories until postgraduate study. Here [in New Zealand] we take a bit more of a practical view: once you've left this place [uni], you will inevitably be forced up in front of a group of musicians who will expect you to have all the answers. That's what this course is for."

ha, that would be awesome!
Somehow i doubt this course is going to be like that though... we have to learn how to conduct all these symphonic pieces and cue the horns and violins at the right time by pointing to speakers that are set up in the classroom and hooked up to midi channels.
Sounds like fun! (or not...) :D
