We Could Be in Love
By: Sharl

Changmin sighed as he watched his neighbor skipped-walking from across the road. As always, the mere sight of Junsu brought his heart to beat a little faster. And of course, an arousal.

Hey, don’t judge! Changmin was a healthy male thank you very much and with a neighbor-slash-sex-partner like Junsu? His libido was back like he was seventeen years old all over again. Hell, even his first meeting with Junsu ended up with him as a peeping Tom, Junsu danced sexily and him masturbating behind the lawn.

Although when he thought about that now, it was kind of pathetic.

He saw Junsu was trudging up the stairs now and he knew it wouldn’t be long before the doorbell at Changmin’s house will ring. It became like a habit nowadays, for them both to have dinner at each other’s house (most often than not, Changmin’s house because Changmin didn’t like the cats at Junsu’s house). And as always, the dinner would lead to amazing sex preferably on the bed, although Changmin wouldn’t complain if he had Junsu in any other flat surfaces around the house.

And after that, usually Junsu would stay over until the next morning when he went back to his house (just next door!) and each of them would be on their own way. The cycle would repeat itself again and again each night and Changmin knew he was lucky.

He had an amazing sex partner for free. Many people would envy him, he knew that.

But if he was being truthful, he didn’t want Junsu to be just another sex partner.

Junsu was amazing, not just in bed, but in real life too. He was funny, he could understand when Changmin was moody or bored to death. When Changmin had a really important project at work, Junsu didn’t mind when Changmin had to stay for weeks at the lab. He even offered whether Changmin wanted Junsu to keep his house clean or not (read: the hired housekeeper keeps the house clean because there was no way Junsu could clean up the house).

And those were just some reasons why Changmin wanted him as his boyfriend. Not just a sex partner, because Junsu worth more than that. Changmin wanted a relationship, a real relationship with Junsu, that funny, kind, amazing dance teacher.

He only needed to ask the right question to confirm the relationship.

But what if Junsu didn’t feel the same? What if Junsu only wanted a casual sex with no strings attached kind of relationship? And when he realized that Changmin was actually feeling something for him, how would he react?

Dinner and three rounds of amazing, out-of-this-world-sex later, Changmin’s mind was still in turmoil. Junsu seemed to sense that something was wrong, but he didn’t push asking it. That was just so Junsu. He was not a nosey, he just waited until Changmin spilled the beans, so to speak.

Changmin watched as Junsu rose from the bed, still naked without a single clothe on. He felt his cock stirred again. Damn it, Junsu in all his naked glory was too sexy. But with all willpower Changmin had left, he willed down his arousal. He had to ask Junsu now, before Changmin retreated back to his own comfort zone and then he’d just end up sulking again.

“Junsu, what are we?”

“What?”

Changmin swallowed. Hard. He cleared his throat uncomfortably. “I mean, you and me,” he gestured at both of them, “what are we? Friends? Sex partners? Fuck buddies? What?”

Junsu stopped looking for his clothes and stared at Changmin who still lay on the bed. His gaze was unnerving and before long Changmin began to second-guess his own suicidal move. Junsu didn’t look happy and that never bode well. After what felt like an eternity, he asked back, “What do you want it to be?”

Changmin tried very, very hard not to be reminded by their earlier role play where they pretended not to know each other’s name, and Junsu asked that very question although in a very attractive hardcore flirting way. Thankfully his brain was still functioning normally.

“I want us to be, boyfriends.” He cringed at how cliché it sounded like. What was he? High school girl? This was hardly the way a researcher at CNET, the most advanced lab in the world, would behave. A researcher always carried himself/herself an air of dignity, not the fumbling lovesick idiot.

Lovesick? When did that come from?

He frowned. Did Changmin love Junsu? Was that it? He just wanted to be Junsu’s boyfriend, does that mean he’s in love with Junsu?

“Boyfriends?” Junsu asked with a raised eyebrow and Changmin tried not to cringe. Again. Oh god, Junsu didn’t look too happy. He was not surprised, in fact, there was not a single emotion on his face. The guy exuded more emotions when he was dancing than he was right now. He then shrugged, almost uncaringly, “Okay.”

Wait, what? That’s it? No questions? No exclamations? No nothing?

“I don’t understand,” Changmin said.

Junsu tilted his head to the side, almost adorably, as if he was confused now. “What’s not to understand? You said you want us to be boyfriends, and I said yes.”

Something like a pang went through Changmin’s heart. Junsu acted so callously. Maybe that was his real answer. It’s not that Junsu wanted to be Changmin’s boyfriend, he just didn’t mind. Like, Changmin was asking him what Junsu wanted for dinner, Chinese or Japanese and Junsu just answered ‘Whatever’.

Maybe for Junsu, relationship was not a big thing. Relationship was just something unimportant, unlike dancing, his first and true love. Changmin felt so small, so unworthy. Maybe Junsu didn’t like him the way Changmin liked him. The guy didn’t even like him, let alone loving him. Hell, maybe even Junsu loved his cats more than he loved Changmin. Of course. The cats had been with Junsu for so long and Changmin had only known the guy for what, two, three months?

Suddenly Junsu’s face appeared in front of him. “Changmin?” He frowned a bit, most probably from worry.

“Why?” The word escaped Changmin’s mouth before he could stop it. “Why do you accept it just like that? Don’t you want to know why I asked you that? Why I want us to be more than just, whatever we are right now?”

Junsu drew back, he kneeled on the bed and looked at Changmin, an unreadable expression on his face. But then something akin of disappointment appeared. “Why are you suddenly angry?”

Changmin let out a frustrated huff. “I’m not angry, I’m just… I don’t know, I don’t know what to say, Junsu.”

Neither of them spoke for a while. Changmin was angry with himself, for asking that stupid, stupid question. He actually felt that this was worst. It was better to pretend that Junsu liked him, that they were just casual sex partner rather than knowing that Junsu didn’t like him that way and now they were so awkward.

And then Junsu spoke, almost like he was whispering. “I don’t know either. I’m not,” he ran a hand through his hair, messing it up but Changmin still thought he looked damn good, “Look Changmin. I’m not good with words, I don’t know what to say when you asked me that. I want us to be more than just sex partners, I know that. But what am I supposed to say?”

“I’m so horrible at expressing myself with words. That’s why I love dancing, you need words to express yourself through dance. And, and when you asked me that question, actually I have thought about and considered us that way. It’s just that we haven’t confirmed it yet,” Junsu said again.

“Oh,” Changmin said stupidly.

So Junsu actually liked him the way Changmin liked Junsu. And if he said that he had considered them both to be boyfriends then maybe, just maybe, they were in love with each other; without any of them saying to actually confirm it.

And even if they weren’t in love already, maybe they could be in love. Or at least, Changmin thought he could be in love with Junsu. Junsu, the amazing dance teacher who was now kneeling on Changmin’s bed. This adorable, loveable, sexy Junsu who was now, hopefully, Changmin’s boyfriend. He just needed to confirm it one more time.

“So… boyfriend?” Changmin asked cautiously.

Junsu looked up. “Yes,” he replied.

Midnight snack and two rounds of amazing sex later, Changmin cuddled up with his just-confirmed-to be-boyfriend, Kim Junsu, the amazing dance teacher, the Dancing Deity himself. Both of them had that sex afterglow around them and there was nothing else that could make Changmin happier right now.

“You know,” Junsu said as his finger traced an uneven patter on Changmin’s chest, “Maybe I should move some of my things here. I practically live in your house anyway.”

“That’s a good idea. Hey why don’t you just move in here? We can rent your house to a nice elderly couple and get ourselves a nice little income from that.”

Junsu snorted. “Wouldn’t they be surprised when they see us having sex?”

Changmin raised an eyebrow. “What, you’re planning to get caught by neighbors or something?”

“Well, if being caught by my neighbor means that said neighbor becoming my boyfriend, then I don’t mind getting caught. I definitely don’t mind.”

(Changmin felt like floating among clouds. Junsu was now his boyfriend. They planned to move Junsu’s things next week. Or maybe the week after that, because on next weekend they plan to finish a new game Junsu just bought. But nevertheless, Changmin was happy, happier than he thought happiness could be.

Except when he realized that with Junsu moving in, so did his three cats).
