A friend of mine is coming to stay for a while and although she's flying up here, I'm driving her back to Keflavik on her way back. We're going the long way around (clockwise) just so that I can show her the Iceberg Lake (Jökulsárlón). It's about 860 miles around the ring road, plus another hundred or so in terms of touristy bits.
That whole 'needs lots of money to keep it road legal' happened to our BMW last year. We would have had to put more money into the car than what we paid for it (cheap second-hand) and we figured it wasn't worth it. I do so like the newer car we got to replace it but I was nervous when it had to go in for its MOT last month. Thankfully it was relatively minor repairs needed.
Ouch. This car is old, but it's also much bigger than I'd normally want; unfortunately the second-hand car market isn't too good here. Sure, everyone wants a new car every two years, but that means that most second-hand cars are also very expensive. I do miss the UK second-hand car market.
