Solution to writing a really, really long book: Make it a trilogy! Those sell really well.

That's a really good suggestion...except the last time I tried a trilogy, it turned into a five-book series. With vampires (though not sparkly).

I'll just forge ahead and tell this story as it needs to be told, and figure out what to do with its length in the next pass. (Procrastination: it's not ALWAYS a bad thing!)

It does seem to be the way of the world (and trilogies grow to five books, or six or twelve...)

Seriously, telling the story as it needs to be told is the only good solution.
