I wasn't going to post on the election...because, honestly, the last thing I want is to get into a political discussion on my LJ. (And, yes, politics affects all of our lives, but I still don't enjoy discussing it. It's one of the guaranteed ways to start needless fights among people who usually get along.) I'm just seeing so much utter outrage

I can't actually say I agree with you that your country will be alright. National debt and unemployment wise, it is not looking so pretty...But it is nice to see someone is calm today. I am almost hugged out, for all the people who are freaking.

I believe that it will. I really do. (Perhaps not necessarily within these next four years, but it will happen.) I guess, the way I look at it, is that it's useless to freak out at this point. If the man wins, then he wins. I did my part to change things by voting yesterday, and that was the best I could do.
I'm a big believer in "things happen for a reason." Hopefully it will be a good one in the long run that will make us a stronger nation.
('Course if he starts out by getting rid of some of the people he hinted at getting rid of, that will at least be a step in the right direction.)

However, again I state that I am Canadian, so I don't get a say in it And thankfully, the effect this decision will have on my country will be minimal.
