merlin's guilt.
ALMOST KILLING MORGANA! SO CLOSE.
SHOULD MERLIN FEEL GUILTY? MORGANA DIDN'T FEEL GUILTY TRYING TO KILL HIM, AFTER ALL. DOES HIS GUILT MAKE HIM A BETTER PERSON THAN MORGANA? OR JUST WEAKER.
UTHER AND ARTHUR UNKNOWINGLY LAYING ON THE GUILT.

I don't think those two things are mutually exclusive. I think it makes Merlin both a better person than Morgana but also a weaker one when it comes to achieving his aims, and it is this weakness/kindness which will ultimately be his downfall. That he has already been told this seems to be lost on him, but I do think that he simply could not act any other way.

He has had ample opportunity to let Uther die, kill Morgana, let Mordred die etc but he intervened to let them live in all cases, and I think he is beginning to realise what that will mean for Camelot in the long-term.

Yeah I agree that I think he is both a better person, and yet somewhat weak. I mean, we like noble!Merlin and the fact that doesn't kill people and that he has compassion; but obviously it has massive ramifications for Camelot. I think it's a really interesting fatal character flaw.

Merlin should feel guilty for saving Morgana's life. Everything indicates that she has become a ruthless killer and Merlin forces the dragon to tell him how to save her life?!

I don't know about this boy.

I think Kilgarrah, rather like other characters on this show, has an agenda. His agenda is to make sure that good magic returns to the land, and he isn't overly interested in moral confusion to achieve this. He wants Uther, Morgana, Morgause, Mordred all dead so that Merlin can rule the magic part of Camelot, and Kilgarrah can be truly free. When Merlin is being all conflicted and human about the decisions he needs to make (and really Merlin is in an ultimate no-win situation, and I think that is beginning to dawn on him), then Kilgarrah just cannot understand that.

And the landing in Camelot's football pitch thing looks so obvious that I can only imagine that the dragon has an invisibility shield that only Merlin can penetrate or something. It's silly.

That's the only explanation, otherwise Camelot's full of blind dumbs :)

Well it's a chronic problem in Camelot: Everyone, friend or foe, can waltz in and out of the castle without a single guard noticing them. All the knights die each week against the weakest of competition. Who is left to see a gigantic dragon swoop directly over the city and land in a nearby field? Seriously, Camelot needs to increase its defence budget.

Oh my, Merlin in the rain. I highly appreciated all the gratuitous long camera shots on him during that scene. It's as though the producers have just realised how hot he is, and are now making up for lost time.
