SO VERY EXCITED. About the community, I mean. I will say that I'm not too excited about CERTAIN video clips that we saw, but what the fuck, I don't know what to think, I am hoping it's more than meets the eye. BE BACK LATER TO TALK MORE ABOUT THE SPOILERS (need to go out now). BUT OMGWTFBBQ, M/A DISCUSSION COMMUNITY!!!!

One small comfort is that whatever is going on, it's in block two, which seems to follow the trend of Merlin and Arthur being a tad bumpy in the first half of the season and smoothing out for the second half.

I see where you're coming from, but I don't think it's a comfort. I think it's lazy/crappy/whathaveyou writing. I don't understand why the boys have to continue re-establishing their friendship/working relationship EVERY SEASON. They were perfectly fine, by the end of S2 (on the surface, anyway), so hopefully that's at least acknowledged in the first few episodes.

I personally hope that Arthur's lashing out is over something big. I don't necessarily jump to the "HE'S STILL A PRAT" conclusion, since I doubt he'd do it for fun anymore. Based on other pictures from that day, like him lashing out at a dummy, I think it might be something highly important and emotional. I really hope so, anyway.

That's what I think. Look at Merlin's face while he stands in the rain while Arthur whacks that dummy. He doesn't just look cold, wet, and tired. He's looking emo and angsty.

I am so unbelievably excited.

I'm sure Morgana has a role to play in all that "Fate" and "Destiny" business, but I do wish Merlin had just killed her. I liked her in the beginning, but she really started to grate on my nerves in S2.

I don't see Morgana or any of the other magical people as necessarily evil. What I see is a number of angry people fighting for their survival. Modred may be destined to kill Arthur but how could he avoid hating Camelot, they have killed at least two people close to him, if not more. They are functioning more like terrorists...

And I don't see Uther as evil, either. In S1 he did make one telling remark about how Gorlois used to keep him in check. This is the entire issue with Uther-no boundaries. He reacts impulsively and 20+ years of a magical pogrom was the result. Arthur could easily go the same way but he has Merlin and Gwen to set boundaries. And at one time Morgana, as well.

I can see how things might seem black and white. I can also see how everything is gray...

FYI, Katie was also wearing Ygraine's dress in the first block set so it's possible Morgana is messing with Uther's head (and that would make sense with the episode summary).

I'm seriously wondering what was going on with the Arthur beating up a dummy scene. Merlin looked very unhappy!

I'm very excited to see what's going to happen in S3.

Yes! That's a really exciting spoiler. I only didn't include it in the entry because it doesn't directly involve Merlin or Arthur, but it is rather possible that it may end up involving Merlin; it might be one of the things that tips him off to her manipulation plot. It'd be really cool if the show would acknowledge Sins of the Father. I know they haven't done flashes yet, either through flashbacks or just flashes of memories, but I think they might to show where Ygraine's dress comes from. And if they acknowledge that whole scene, it's possible they might acknowledge everything that came after it, including Merlin's lie, which could make for epic angst.

Or it might be, you know, cheap costuming choices, figuring there's absolutely no way in hell the audience is going to remember a dress seen in one episode. Hopefully I am wrong about that, though; I'd much rather it were a reference to/continuation of 208 than low budged and thinking the viewers none too bright.

Exactly - we'll remember it, because we're that invested, but casual viewers won't, so I really think they'll have to include flashes of some sort or at least a moment where Merlin tells Gaius that he remembers it. I feel like a moment like that would stick out for him. I'm actually going to give them the benefit of the doubt and say that it actually might not be a cheap costuming choice/lack of continuity, because Katie made a point of telling a fan that it "isn't Morgana's dress" and she implied at the Expo that one of Morgana's S3 dresses is a bit of a plot device, so she couldn't talk about it.

ANYway, I just think Arthur and Merlin's relationship is EPIC. They are both very noble and pure at heart. It is purely because of Arthur and Merlin I watch this TV series. And I believe most of us invest so much in it because it is ALL about Arthur and Merlin (or maybe Bradley and Colin). They are perfect match for each other and just feel so right to stay together, always and forever.
