The reverse of the previous meme, again courtesy of dreambrother. Sucky stuff starting with "s". Nothing personal against the letter "s"--that's just what she gave me.
Snails. Darn them all. One of the perils of living in an English town is the population of snails. You can't walk to Tesco without looking down, scanning for those slimy buggers. Yuch.
I will pretend to know what extremophiles are, but in any sense, sounds fun.
Tell the Shockmeister to kindly not share the germs with you, and get well soon.
Too late--he already has. Clogged up this morning, with a stiff neck and a monster headache.
He should know when to be stingy. :-}
Sorry--extremophiles are little critters that can live in really nasty environments--really hot, really cold, really dry. Like Mars critters would have to.
Like a little chiton chip, I suppose. Not much taste, possibly because I wanted to get them down quickly. Very crunchy. Another of the myriad foods that are considered medicinal.
The extremophiles trip sounds amazing! I LOVE extremophiles! You will definitely have to blog about it...
and regarding fried scorpion- I really WANT to try it but am still working my way up to it... I think I am willing to lick it at this point and if it doesnt freak me out to do that then I will bite in... I also told my friends here I will need moral support so a group of us have to go and try it all together.
I WILL try it before I leave China. I think I will draw the line at the larvae on a stick, though...
It was the kung fu crew on a trip to Shaolin, so we were definitely egging each other on. They don't really have much taste, and they're very crunchy--a lot of trouble I have with foods I don't like is they way they feel in my mouth (like sea cucumber and tendon), but I can handle crunch.
No larvae on sticks for me, either.
I'm really looking forward to the Mojave trip. It's this whole NASA-organized science teacher education thing that I'm supposed to write about for class, but they expect the trip journalists to be full participants, so I probably will be blogging. I'll probably blog just to capture some of the stuff that's going on, if nothing else.

Chris McKay is the PI. Have you heard of him?
Dang it. Edited to show the scorpion icon.
