Hmm. I'd hate to see you change yourself. Humor is a wonderful attribute in getting to know guys. How many dates have you had? If not many, that might be the problem. Awkwardness can be because of little experience. Do you have guys who are just friends? If so, maybe go out with one of them and practice social skills. At parties I am just like you -- want to sit in a corner. ;-) But, y'know? The corner can be a good place to start and to check things out. When you feel a little more comfortable -- try saying hi to someone and a casual comment about the party, the people, whatever.
