As for Sweden's accent: AIUI Himaruya made speak a northern dialect, not vowel-impaired, so wouldn't the English equivalent be something geographically similar?

Ahahaha, ha ha, ha. I just recently realised I had the world's hugest crush on that villain guy in Turtles - Shredder I think? - before I even knew what the feeling meant.
Me too, but to be fair, if a character had a mask, or otherwise kept his face hidden, and he otherwise seemed to look good, I had a crush on him. No exceptions!

To be fair, at times he does act like he's much younger than that. XD
At that age though, most parents would either 1) send them off to play with a kid, 2) trust them alone in the house for a matter of hours or 3) live in a house with sturdy thick walls. I managed to go over twenty years without the least bit awareness of my parents even having a sexlife, I think a couple of thousand year or so old nations can come up with some way to keep their private time private.
(On a side-note, I can't imagine Sweden doing it on a kitchen table. It took him hours to put it together, dammit!)

I dislike fandom nicknames, too. I've seen it around, but thankfully, it doesn't seem very widely spread in my fandoms. Oddly enough, I see it mostly with Yaoi pairings. Maybe there's a link between the two? I prefer to only see an actual nickname if it's in canon and that's only occurred once, I believe, with one character.
I got to 'annoying,' but couldn't read the word. I'm usually pretty good at word puzzles like that, but the lack of a and o in annoying stopped me. :(
You know, shipping is one thing; I think I'll always ship something in a new series I start reading or watching, but I'll always get interested in the storyline, too. I have to be entertained somehow when there's no pairing advancement or interaction! XD

Iggy and Su-san are canonical nicknames. But, as I see it, they're nicknames to use in Japanese fanworks, but not in English ones because they're derived from the Japanese language. (Igirisu means Britain, and Su-san is short for Suueden-san.) In this case I actually want to see fanon nicknames rather than canon ones, how funny, when I think about it. :D (America and England are pretty probably talking English with one another, so using nicknames that only work in Japanese seems weird.)
Yeah, I mean, I may ship in every fandom I'm in, but I'm never in the fandom for the shipping. Hetalia works for me on a history geeking and random comedy level, and I am interested in country antropomorphism, and always up for learning more about how Sweden is viewed by others.
I did see a lot of English stereotypes in that, so I'm sure American movies are partially to blame, but I can't think of a single one that had Englishmen unable to swim.

So since the characters would normally speak their own language (the only reason they speak Japanese in the first place is for the Japanese audience), it makes sense for them to have nicknames in those language? It's okay, I probably could have expressed it clearer. And yeah, America calling England Iggy makes about as much sense as me suddenly calling you Ginny, because Gin is Japanese for Silver. (Not that there exists an anime of us, but the point remains valid.)
Not to mention, as usually is the case with most fandoms, the world that the story creates. I mean, unless the show/story is really down to Earth, there's usually something about it that creates a world of its very own somewhat different from ours. And I think that if you are only in it for the shipping, you are probably going to miss out on this aspect the most likely. (At least if I harsly judge some of the shippy fics I've read out there.)
