Just wanted to let you all know that this lovely comm isn't dead - I'm planning on starting the preliminary gathering of materials for Round 2 in the next coming days. Things just got a bit hectic with the end of the semester and everything ( Read more... )

Good news! *g*

May I propose something for the 2nd round?
How would it be if everyone is allowed to submit 2 icons and also 2 icons get voted out. As long as you still "are in" with 1 icon you can still participate.

(Of course the worst case scenario would be if one person gets voted with both her/his icons ... but I'd say that chance is very small. *g*)

Perhaps the interest of the participants would be greater also in the later rounds when they don't get voted out in the first round?

You make a very good suggestion. The only problem is the amount of participants. We only have ten participants for the first round, and that's why only one icon was allowed for each challenge and why only one person got voted out per week. The choice to do that was made after the number of participants was set!

If we could get more people to sign up this round, I'll consider the two icon/two people eliminated each week theory.

Okay, perhaps I have a logical mistake here (mathematics was never my favourite in school *g*) but

10 participants with 10 icons, one icon gets voted out = 10 rounds.

10 participants with two icons, and two icons get voted out = ten rounds.

Example : in the first round icon maker 3 and 5 get voted out with one icon each. So in the next round there are still 10 participants - now with 18 icons. ( 8 people who can still submit 2 icons and 2 people who can only submit 1 icon)
Next round again two icons get voted out. Let's say icon maker 9 and - alas - icon maker 3. So in the next round there are 9 people with 16 icons. (7 people who can submit still 2 icons and icon maker 5 and 9 with one icon)

Ehm ... I hope I explained this better now? *lol* Now you know why I never should try to teach mathematics. *lol*

Ah, alright - that does make sense actually! That's a very good idea now that I understand. I'll definitely have to incorporate that into the upcoming round.
