the simple answer is to just ask me if I am up for a discussion. I might say yes. Far too often people just want to spew at me MORALS and I'M IN THE MAJORITY AND I'M BEING OPPRESSED, which are exhausting to filter through to get to a real discussion, and so I'm left pretty wrung out and not so interested in discussing matter just then, so I might say no. Also, I might know your argument before you try to discuss things with me, as I've discussed things with you before, and knowing you'll just shout out MORALS and I'M IN THE MAJORITY AND I'M BEING OPPRESSED at me and I seriously don't want to deal with those more, so I might just say 'no' for that reason.
Dude. This is exactly the thoughts I weighed in my head before trying to talk about Obama to some people in my family. I knew if I said 'no, I don't feel like discussing it' -- whether right at that moment or with her, at all, that it would be seen as me not having a 'real' argument. *sighs*
