Today is National Women's Equality Day. So, happy NWED to you, shangyfems!

How will you celebrate women's equality today?

What would make you feel more like this holiday mattered?

a win for our side, popelizbet, generally meaningless gestures, equal rights for chicks and junk

Me? I plan to celebrate by watching the first viable female major-party Presidential candidate speak at convention.

I would feel more like today mattered if she was actually the nominee! But I'm big enough to admit that I don't always know What's Best, and that I'll be proud to vote for Sen. Obama anyway.

Whoo!

Add the holiday to your calendar. Next year we'll have a party. With hats.

I think it would have more meaning if I had found out some other way than here. Lol. It actually saddens me abit that I really didn't know about it until I logged on to lj. I've already browsed yahoo, read the latest AAUW email, but not a peep

I can't say how I celebrated, but I did. I did something that took an enormous amount of female strength.

As it happens, I'm making cookies. Not so much out of celebration, as because I'm moving and had cookie dough in my freezer.

I celebrated by going to the first day of classes. Woo being a woman and receiving a higher education! Woo planning on actually USING that education after graduation!

Also my brother celebrated by being a stay-at-home dad while his wife earns her Master's and works to support the family. He also lectured me on the importance of getting a graduate degree.
