I generally hold doors for people who have their arms full or whatever, or at least do that one handed holding the door after I've gone through thing, so it doesn't slam in the face of the person behind me.
I'm a big fan of those double sets of doors, because then the first person holds the door open for the second, who can then go ahead and hold the next one. All polite and friendly.

I'm not saying the original guy was a complete asshole sexist raving jerk or even a Nice Guy TM. It's the commentary that bothers me more, all this "what a bitch!" energy. Does that make sense?
IAWTC. It reads like he wants to be seen as a "gentleman", but has a seething hatred of teh vagina underneath, just waiting for the day some woman does not appreciate his manly manliness.
I agree completely with this. I mean, holding a door for someone is just common courtesy -- unless you LIKE it when people let doors slam in your face.
