Try the Bethany shop on Summerhall for knitting needles. They have a stash which they keep in a tub somewhere on a window sill.

Second hand needles? Ugh. Always use brand new, unused needles. That is just common sense.

just be a cheater like Jessa and use a round loom to make hats and scarves. Takes zero time. lol... just kidding. You can be more creative with needles.
