Power outages are a pain.

We lost power for about an hour. Our whole apartment complex, and the ones we can see from our windows.

I used the light from my laptop screen to find the battery powered lamp, and once I had that I tracked down flashlights and candles. I was just about to go to bed early when the power came back.

Now I'll go to bed.

Power outages suck, especially for geeks...

Yeah, George has enough battery power for several hours, but without power there's no wireless connection.

At least my Rocket ebooks are good for reading in the dark.

Power outage is no fun. At least for grownups. Bills, flooding, trees falling and all that crap. I don't appreciate living in a hotel.

I remember loving them as a kid. Fire place fun, running around like Maniacs.... It's like one bit slumber party. We lived out in the sticks, so it was pretty norm and very cool.

Maturity saps the fun out of childhood ignorance and stupidity.

Oddly I don't think the kids today, being high tech will ever appreciate the joy of blackouts...

We have underground power lines to our apartment complex, so when we lose power for more than a few minutes it's usually something pretty big.

I remember the big blackout in 1965.

I'm not sure how widespread this was, but several blocks at least.

Well, we usually get them 3 days to a week. Living in the boonies it was very important to have a fire place. Our big black out was in 85. I'll never forget it. It was far worse than the one we had last year. It hit the entire tristate area, and hammered out lining country communities for almost 3 weeks.

Hell of a ice storm. But we're horridly used to it now days. Some times the little ones last day or two. Two days at the most if you live at my parents.

Pretty impressive stuff. But less fun as an adult-adult. I mean in college it was an excuse to party and hang with friends....
