Wow, my life is a roller coaster. Two weeks ago I lost my best buddy in the whole world. My dog Riley lost his battle with a tumor around his heart that we didn't even know existed. I've gotta say, it was the most traumatic experience I've ever encountered, and I hope to never have to face anything like that again

Sorry to hear about Riley. How old was he? My stepmom's dog (also named Riley) is going to be 7 this year. I am going to fall to pieces when he dies. Same thing with my mom's cat. He's at least 13 years old, so it bound to happen sooner than later :(

He was 9. It's not uncommon for large breed dogs to pass away early, but it was just so unexpected that it made it about a billion times harder. I think the only thing that is really getting me through this is the fact that I have other dogs. I still cry when I tell the story of what happened. It's like losing a child. Some people don't seem to realize that though.
