Okinawan politics are serious business...

Jan 15, 2014 15:07

Over the past month or so I've been keeping up with some controversial nonsense that's been going on back home in Okinawa. Apparently the Japanese government is coming in and trying to force the approval for building yet *another* US military base on our fair little island. Or rather, they'll be reclaiming land from the sea to build it. So far it ( Read more... )

Goodbye mittens \o/ Now I can finally read my textbooks properly. I'll tag with. I just need a ride, room, and street map, and I'll be out of your hair.

I know that feel, bro. Though it's more managing practically everything, not just textbooks. No need. You can stay at my place. I have full intentions of letting anyone who tags along crash with me. Don't worry, we've got enough room for you. Plus having a local as a personal guide will do you a lot better than trying to figure out the damn maps. Less wasted time that way too.

[OOC: Hehe~ Subjecting Hiyoshi to the pack of weirdos that are the Chinen family~ This oughta be fun~]

Should I have bail money ready for the hoosegow? I know how Tanjirou gets about this sort of thing.

I'll be down as well. But with the sentiments at the moment, I'll be sure to keep at arm's length. Last thing your family needs it angry protesters because of the gaijin Marine hanging about.

Eh...Okaa-san said he's mostly been behaving himself so far. Just doing a lot of ranting about it to anyone who will listen and sometimes when they won't whenever the subject comes up...or practically anytime it comes on the news. I'm personally waiting to see how he'll react when we go to festival. I heard Governor Nakaima is supposed to show up as a guest and give a speech or something.

Just don't wear your fatigues while you're down there and you should be fine. I know you're a fan of wearing those damn things constantly, but you'll be less likely to get harassed by anyone if you just leave them behind this time.

[OOC: Tanjirou's so gonna get his ass arrested during the lunar new year celebrations. I'm totally gonna say he spots the governor during the festivities and just loses it. And since he'll have been drinking, he'll end up going over and punching the guy out and shouting that he's a traitor to Okinawa. ...Which may or may not result in sparking a small riot if there happens to be a group of protestors present ( ... )

Of course he is. He's still the same firebrand he always was. I don't blame him for it either. Your Governor is too young to remember what it was like.

I'll dig out some other gladrags to pal about. I do have one of those Kariyushi shirts collecting dust somewhere.

[ooc: Tsuge, if he doesn't somehow get dragged into the mess his BFF causes, will be more than happy to bail him out. Though I do sort of see them chilling in the cell together all, "just like old times" because they both know that Tsuge could get out whenever he wanted. Also, a Kariyushi shirt is the Okinawan version of the Aloha shirt...]

He's not that much younger than Ojii-san. He was born before the Battle of Okinawa, though I think he would've been something like five at the time. But I think that *is* part of why Ojii-san is angry with him. The governor knows what they dealt with. ...But then again, Nakaima was born on the Mainland, so he wasn't there when it happened. Ojii-san says he's not a real Okinawan because of that.

Pfft~ That'll be a hilarious sight to see, I'm betting~ Though don't you think it's a bit early to be putting on a kariyushi? Even if it is Okinawa, I don't think it's quite warm enough for it. Unless you've got one of those awkward-looking long-sleeved ones.

[OOC: Yeah, it would make sense for Tsuge to join in with his biffle in getting in a fight. XD Tanjirou says that just because they're old that doesn't mean they don't still have plenty of fire left in them~ Though Tsukiko is going to give the two of them such a scolding when she comes to bail them both out. ^^; And yeah, I've heard of the kariyushi before. Chinen's got a few ( ... )
