RideRuairí doesn't mean to come this far, but sometimes he just needed to run, to plunge into the wind and tear the night beneath his hooves; and he does not register the stones marking the Gate until he's long through them, out of Faerie and pounding the dust of a mortal road. Fields border it, so thick with sunflowers that he can see nothing else. Gallop becomes canter, becomes trot, becomes walk. When he breathes deep, he can scent machine oils beneath the flowers.
