I love the cropping in this set, especially 7, 15, 17, 44-46 and 51.

No, I don't. At least I don't use them as bases. When I see a pretty one I simply use that as an icon. When I'm making icons though, I prefer seeing the whole image and then starting from scratch. Of course, you wouldn't have that problem, if you're using your own bases. :)
