This is very true. And yet I have to agree that it's better than being a child. Responsibilites, yes, but also freedoms.

The best part of adulthood is that I can totally ignore my father if I want. Also, driving and sex and getting a lot more jokes and having a paycheck ftw!

I, too, agree with your point 4.) >_< At least as adults we have some modicum of control over things... or the comforting illusion of it, perhaps!

I think the comforting illusion is what's so appealing to kids; they only see that we get to drive, stay up late, and read and watch whatever we want, as opposed to seeing that we also have to pay bills, work, and buy life insurance policies.
