I <3 TWILIGHT SAMURAI so much! Isn't it wonderful? I really love the camera work and the colors and the unf-ness that is the Twilight Samurai himself.
Do you like SAMURAI DEEPER KYO? I never really got into it but my bro has most of it and if you can give it a good rec, maybe I'll borrow it and check it out.
OMG YES. *starry eyes* I got a little BAWWWWWy towards the end, but that's what you'd expect. Also, is there anything sexier than a devoted single dad who thinks his daughters should have book learning and fights for his friend's sister? If I could be married to Sanada Hiroyuki but also bang Toshiro Mifune whenever he's in town, I'd be pretty happy XD
Should you have time for leisure reading in the period to follow, I recommend The Bamboo Sword by Fujisawa Shuhei. Awesomesauce. Granted, you know what my position on samurai is ("adding one to your novel automatically makes it Great Literature!"), but.
I have read only about the first 3 volumes or so, and it entertains me so far, albeit not in the same way as, say, Rurouni Kenshin or your darker, more visceral manga (Blade of the Immortal, Lone Wolf and Cub--both excellent, btw). Warning: Ikuni annoys me.
