You're back!! And doing well!! As can be.

Where'd you get the Cantonese learning materials?

And now I can tag you to do memes? Or.. not..

I am back! I could be doing better, but I could also be doing a lot worse. (And have done a lot worse, within recent memory.) Equanimity: I fail at it.

I am using Teach Yourself Cantonese, which I got from the public library, but I also have some Cantonese-language-learning links saved in my browser. I'll hook you up if you'd like. ♥

You can tag me to do memes if you want, but I am craptacular about ever actually doing the memes. D:

As my friend always asks when we see one another, "surviving?" And you know, he's right. We're surviving as best we can, ya know? He'll be back October 5th.

Please do!! :D I can find Mandarin at Chapters (which is GREAT!!) but not Cantonese.

Here be one (I'll do it within a week or so. I'm kinda at a low place right now so I'll be taking a SHORT break from posting in my LJ but will log on to see what's up with you guys)

+ First: If you've been tagged, you must write your answers in your own LJ and replace any question that you dislike with a new, original question.

+ Second: Tag eight people. Don't refuse to do that. Don't tag whoever tagged you.

Have you ever lied to a teacher/boss to get out of a deadline?

What kind of magazines do you read?

What's your current favorite song?

What's really creepy?

Who is your celebrity crush and why?

What's your current fandom/obsession/addiction?

What are you listening to right now?

What are you most excited for?

What websites do you always visit when you go online?

What was the last ( ... )

Sometimes surviving is all we can do.

Okay, linx0rz ahoy. Not comprehensive, but hopefully enough to get you started.

FlashCan is a flashcard program you can download. It's designed for use with the Teach Yourself book, but you can probably get some use out of it anyway; it has a quiz mode and a Mandarin dictionary file as well. :)

Chinese Character Database with Word-Formations: Phonologically Disambiguated According to the Cantonese Dialect. You can set this to be English-language. Unfortunately, the links to the talking syllabaries are no longer active.

Chinese Lessons: Cantonese. They've also got a Mandarin section on the main site--and sound files!

Chinese (Cantonese) Help Sheets. This site has more sound files, a bazillion print-friendly worksheets, and an online dictionary. :) There's also a tool that helps you read and parse Chinese websites.

Learn Chinese - both Mandarin and Cantonese resources. :D

Will I ever post the meme in my journal? THE SUSPENSE WILL KILL YOU. :O

<3<3<3<3 yay!!! you're back!

I'd show your Raoul's fish but I eated it. ^^ I hope you get some audio aids eventually. Canto is wayyyy too tonal to learn just by reading, unfortunately.

Look forward to hearing about The Amazing Adventures of l33 more regularly.

It's Sept now. Does this mean your pink eye is gone? PS - stop touching your eyes???? XD

♥♥♥♥ I am indeed! Hurrah for enthusiastic receptions! :DDDD

Was it delicious? XD The Evansville library has an instructional CD, which hopefully will at least set me on the right path so I don't wind up talking like the Monty Python sketch about the obscene Hungarian/English phrasebook.

I'll try to have some amazing adventures worth writing about. :D

Uh, my pinkeye is sort of gone. I'm on the eyedrops for another month, month and a half to make sure the bacteria is good and dead and stays that way, and also to clear up the resulting inflammation, but the immediately apparent symptoms are pretty much gone (no matter, blepharitis, itchiness, etc), so I'm not condemned to swab down everything I ever come near with boiling bleach for the rest of my life. The entire experience has left me kicking around an idea for a story about leprosy. XD

RE: Suing Walmart - take a number. They've probably got a thousand million of those. Good luck to her

Re: Mom - I pray for the best for her. My dad's getting places on his skin checked to make sure they're not cancerous, so I feel your worry

RE: Cantonese - Good luck. I once had a passion for languages, but that's all moot now >> <<;;;;

RE: Diet - good for you. If I ever get back on mine, I'll be surprised. I've been down and out since April >> <<;;;

Glad you're back nonetheless dahling! *huggles*

LOL-MART - Yeah, I wish her luck, but I think it's a lost cause. Unfortunate, but true; the 'Mart has deeper pockets.

LOLMOM - The polyp turned out not to be precancerous, but they're doing another check just to be sure (no word yet on when that will be). Fingers crossed for your dad--hopefully the places he's having checked turn out to be nothing to worry about.

CANTONESE - I have a lot of spare time because I don't work enough, which has been exacerbated by Lol-Mart's cutting our hours due to a new store opening the next town over D:

DIET - Thanks. I really fell off the wagon this week >_<;

It's good to be back ^__^
