oh, i love this. i always thought there should be more angst on rose's side considering the doctor left her for FIVE HOURS to run around with pompadour. going into my memories!

Oh, I agree completely. They just sort of brushed off the whole him leaving on his trusty white steed to save the damsel in distress bit. Actually, that's not what bothered me about the episode because he had to save her. Period. What bothered me was him asking her to go with them. That...that hurt and angered me. And poor Rose just stands there waiting for him, loyal to the end and brushing aside her feelings over what happened to focus on him. Valiant of her yes, but they should've delved into how it affected her in the show.

see, and i blame the whole "let's ignore rose" doctor mindset on steven moffat, who wrote the episode, because he hates rose. he's the one who likened the doctor leaving rose at the end of the 4th season to "dumping a clingy girlfriend."

regardless, i don't think the doctor would have forgotten about rose the way he did, and i don't think rose would have settled on "are you all right?" and then letting it go.

ugh, i HATE it when hired writers mess with my OTP.

Oh, I agree about SM, which is why, in some ways, I'm glad Rose is gone before he takes over. Even if RTD had put her and the Doctor in a firmly established relationship (not that it was ever gonna happen but if), SM would've found a way to destroy it.

No, the Doctor would not have forgotten about Rose so easily just because of some shiny, new toy, and she wouldn't have just settled for him saying he was fine. Unfortunately, I cannot get my head around a reasonable explanation for Ten's actions. Which is why a sequel to this fic is so difficult to think about. I'd have to have answers in it and I just don't think I have any.

I used to think a lot about how things might have continued after GITF. This was one of many possible scenarios. Though probably one of the saddest... Because Ten really did screw things up back then.

Ten did screw things up, big time. And I think the show screwed them up too, because they just left it. There should've been some fallout from what he did. This story obviously is the worst-case scenario because in it Rose and the Doctor were more than just mates. In the show they weren't (well, on-screen they weren't) but that doesn't mean he should've gotten away with it like he did.
