This has been a difficult year. On March 18 John Merchant, the husband and father of relatives of mine, died. On June 9th Emma, my friend's dog was put to sleep. Today the wife of John Merchant passed on. I will so miss Greta as in a way she was my second mother being so motherly when my own mother passed away when I was 15 and of course her 3 ( Read more... )

Thank you. We've been expecting this to happen with Greta for some time but it still is shocking when it did happen *sigh*

Thank you. I knew that Greta was going to die at some point but I did not know about David and to me it was so astonishing they both departed on the same day *sigh*

Thank you. And I'm so sad it happened on your birthday but then there are only 365/366 days a year so on every day people are born (I was born on Nixon's birthday!) and people die *sigh*

Oh hon, I am so sorry to hear about your losses. I had a year like that last year and it really does make you stop and think.

Take good care of yourself

Yep, I'm getting there and I have to say loss definitely has a way of making you reevaluate your priorities.

I don't really remember much about the time my mother died but I do recall thinking my life started all over again so a small part of me thinks I'm only 50.

Greta's youngest daughter Sandra (who you can see in the YouTube) ended up having to take care of her. She wanted her mother to live even longer even though there is no cure for dementia and it would get worse and it was hard on her to take care of her mother, even though they had nurse aids helping, plus doing her job at PluggedIn and supervising her daughter.

I have friends who are a couple and the woman, who is a few years younger than I am, has Alzheimer's and she might live quite a long time and her boyfriend intends to take care of her until the end. I keep hoping that someone will find a way to cure this horrible brain problem but I doubt it will be in the near future *sigh*
