Is what you quoted from the book jacket?

(Yeah, I can see the conversations now "Gee, my ex-stalker helped kill your True Love.")

ETA: Aret the Sunwell manga not considered canon?

It's from the amazon description section.

I also think Jaina would be a little skeeved out by a dude who just goes for powerful magic users. I mean, after her last go with a Mage/creepy ex-stalker, she'd probably prefer a dude who couldn't just port after her. At least she had breathing room with arthas and thrall! ;)

For Warcraft, I kinda categorize canon in two ways: the traditional idea of canon, and then what gets into the games canon. I mean, after the BS with the War of the Ancients and many book/comic characters never bring heard of again, I take the games to be The Real Canon. Blizzard let Anveena exist in the game, but other stuff like Jorad and Tyrigosa's Adventures With Annoying Preteen Dragonspawn seem to not exist. Unless I missed something, which I could very well have, seeing as ewwww questing in Blade's Edge!

AFAIK Kael as "crepy stalker" is from Golden's Arthas book, which I have not been able to bring myself to read.

My own headcanon on Kael and Jaina is that it had two strikes against it: the age difference, and her being in love with Arthas at the time. I think Kael probably was a gentleman the entire time, and scrupulously backed off as soon as he realized that it Was Not To Be.

(There's a really really lovely story in my Ao3 bookmarks that presents the version of unrequited Kael that I prefer.

Whoops! I thought your creepy ex-stalker comment referred to Kael and Anveena!
