They're all pretty awesome but why does the Artie Pony look a little sad?

I might be missing something since other than a host of web comic references to the recent "My Little Pony" and a little other stuff I don't know the subject.

Adult male ponies don't have turned-up noses like that. They have the more horselike muzzles.

The MLP male ponies have different muzzles, looks like the creator Shaenon used either only had females or she thought the female heads were cuter.

Also, Artie's cutie mark is himself...he is his own special purpose!
