House Update: Project Fireplace

When we bought the house, every possible surface had been whitewashed years ago. It was easy enough to repaint the walls; much harder was stripping paint off fixtures where no paint should be. The living-room fireplace was especially tragic.

The brick is so pretty! I can't believe anyone ever painted over that! (Okay, I can, because the 20th c had some weird design eras, but still)

People paint over the most frustrating things. >.< I don't get it.
