I was at work when this happened, evidently the 'author' took it down since was an almost verbatum copy of HPB with 'edits' to make a certian pairing canon.

Oh geez. I read the beginning of the rewrite for chapter 5 and I can tell where the fan fiction inserts are. Its like "Harry angsty or reflecting about something" then "Oh there is Hermione, let's dwell on how cute she is".

Fan fiction is all fine and good. I enjoy the alternates stories/worlds fans come up with, but to actually go to the extent to modify the original work and then "suggest" that the original author is a hack because she got it wrong, is quite another. (yay for run on sentences) I'm not saying that JKR should get nothing but praise or that you have to adore every single word, but please, that is just too extreme.

Agreed there, the fic has been taken down now thank goodness due to concerns some of her supporters had about legality of such a project. I mean if it was a completly new version of the plot of HBP that's one thing...but this was just an edit.
