This certainly has my interest -- what's in the forest? How did the other children die? What stories did she hear that sent her into the forest? It's a very good beginning.

I suspect it was the stories about the flower that Tiane recalled when she was running though the forest. :)

I love how you're piecing this story together and all the reveals you're giving us. So...this is before Tiane journeys into the forest on her quest! The dialogue and action work perfectly here!

I'm not sure, though I'd be willing to bet they're living in a very hard place to live and survival is hard. I mean, there's got to be a reason that Tiane was willing to risk it all. :)
