Fashion and Why I Hates It

Stopped by Payless last night as Sunday my only pair of light colored sandals decided to fall apart. I grew up going to Payless because they were reasonably priced and carried fairly decent looking stock ( Read more... )

I'm 5'4" and still have that problem with pants being too long. I don't know if the designers expect us to be wearing heels with all of our pants or what! The hubby pointed out yesterday how my legs are actually very long for my torso (he's the opposite- normal legs and a long torso), so really I shouldn't be cuffing up and stepping on all my pants.

I think it has something to do with designers dealing with models who seem to always wear 4-5" heels with everything. The average, everyday woman doesn't wear those. I wish they'd pay more attention to the world that we're really living in.

My daughter has the same issue. gythiawulfie April 10 2012, 16:33:17 UTC
I have the opposite issue. Everything is too short... We used to joke about cutting the extra off of her jeans and sewing it onto mine.

As for shoes.

endless.com some of it can get pricey, but I have 2 pairs of shoes from there and I have had them for 3 years plus. Paid about 45 bucks a pair, however, they are WELL Worth it.

You can do a lot of sorting and and narrowing and they carry ALL sorts of sizes.

That I could see. It seems like nobody, short, tall, or average is happy with jean length.

Very cool! I'll take a look at them. :D

I remember seeing fashion bug when I lived in Irving. I'll have to check and see if they're in Houston. The biggest problem is that when I get to the point of looking for jeans I need them now and I don't have the time to shop around.

Well, on the plus side I typically wear longer shirts to cover that .. but I know what you mean.

Don't know if we have one of those here .. but since I make regular trips to Austin, far north Austin no less, I bet I can talk Dragon into directing me toward one when I'm there next. :)

And we wonder why women have such a fucked up view of their bodies and crap for self esteem. We get ugly shoes, are expected to pay $30 for the privilege of crap that falls apart and clothing sizes are a numbers game that nobody wins.

THIS. For $30, you can get decent shoes at places other than Payless, seriously. But what you said here is so true! I find I usually fall in a range of sizes, not just one size. :)

Every designer has their own standards for what qualifies for $size. It's annoying. At least with knitting it's typically done with numbers, like this sweater will fit a bust size 32 up to a 44. Those are solid numbers, those numbers I can understand.
