Please, people, I know you will probably skip this, as with most my posts, but seriously?

Yeah...I pretty much agree with everything you've just said.

People are targeting the wrong thing.

Exactly. And the more people push the wrong buttons, and fling crap, the more they will make it impossible for LJ to reinstate the journals/comms of a nature that isn't 'illegal'.

Like I said, look at it from the advertiser's POV. They are not going to look into the community and see what it's about when they're shown a list of 'interests' of the community as including the ones cited. That's the reality of the situation.

Just wish people would look at the situation from the other side of the fence for once and target their outrage as the cause - WFI and organisations like it. They're the ones who need a smack to the head with a brick wake up call. Especially since they've caused the shutdown of communities they should be supporting, such as the victim support groups!! Wanking Fuckwits Incorporated Warriors For Innocence, my arse!

Well, from a legal standpoint, and I think LJ stated this thought too, they will not be able to reinstate those comms. The liability is too great because if any of them turned out to be "bad", they would had prior knowledge of it and that's never a good thing.

I guess, and that's just more fuel to the fire against the cause, WFI and the groups like it.

I've just read this news story on CNet, and followed a link to another newstory on Six Apart, which is interesting when you look at it through this light...

Here's the one about the deletion debacle (and I would like to note, 500 LJs being deleted, out of 13,000,000 is not exactly what people are saying that it's mass, widespread deletions! Not according to my math's teacher and statistics. It's less than .01%.)

And here's the one I found as a direct link from that story. To me it sounds like LJ/SA have been dealing with a lot more crap than they're saying, and possibly from these people. Now is anyone going to thank them for working to keep their service going whilst dealing with this type of attack? Nope.

I still agree that they didn't deal with it in the best way possible, but I also don't know how they could have, and still remain protected from legal action by morons like those vigilante groups.

Thanks, hon.

And as opposed to what I've seen many people say, LJ/SA did not just fold, they seem to me, to have held out until they had no other choice.

That is exactly my point! How many have read the post by one woman who had two LJs closed, and the quotes from the emails she's put on her post, citing the reasons, and also helping her access her suspended account to back it up and store it?

Why won't people see the real culprits in this? The rabid group who've wantonly gone about causing destruction wherever their closed minded, blinkered hatreds have taken them.

Yes, WFI is who I meant there...
