The Doctor checked the scanners again for the hundredth time, but the results were still the same. The TARDIS was not budging. He didn't remember refueling ever taking this long. Although, previously he would usually go off on adventures and leave her to do her thing. Usually she would land in places that were exciting. But there was nowhere to go this time; nothing to do.

"You could have at least landed somewhere interesting," he complained, poking at buttons. "I tell you to go somewhere fun and you take me to a planet of sand. Sand is not fun. Sand is... sand! It gets into everything. Of all the places with rift energy, in all of time and space you had to pick one with nothing to do."

A little blue bucket appeared with a little plastic shovel. He wasn't going to win this argument. No matter how much he complained and pouted, no matter how many buttons he poked, she wasn't moving. Grumbling the Doctor grabbed the bucket and trudged out the door.

The TARDIS sat in peaceful silence and drank her fill. He didn't return an hour later. He didn't return two or even three hours later. By the fifth hour, the Doctor and his TARDIS were sitting in the middle of London. A London made completely out of sand.
